5 New Year’s Resolutions to Keep Your Devices Protected

Posted on

Do you have any New Year’s resolutions for the new year? We know you can start any time of the year, but January is a great time to jumpstart on your goals after the excitement during the holiday season. At TechMatte, our wish is to take better care of our devices, and you can do this too! Here’s some simple (and useful!) ways we’re conquering our resolutions this year.

Resolution #1: Keep My Devices Cleaner

Phones, tablets and handheld gaming systems are some of the most “high-touch” surfaces you can encounter along with tabletops, counters and doorknobs. You’re constantly tapping, swiping and letting other people touch your devices every day. So the question is, how often do you clean your screens? To keep your devices germ-free, stock up on some microfiber cloths. They gently clean without the risk of scratching, plus they remove oil and dust without smearing. You can also use disinfecting wipes, which also completely cleans your devices.

Resolution #2: Quick Scratching/Cracking My Screen

Since the screen is one of the most vulnerable areas your device, the best way to defend it from scratches and cracks is with a screen protector. Ultra-thin and smooth, screen protectors are constructed to blend into the display and be unnoticeable as possible so screen clarity is unaffected. They’re also designed to repel skin oils to reduce the appearance of fingerprints and smudges. There are so many benefits to using screen protectors, and we are always designing new screens to be compatible with the latest models. You can browse our current screen protector selection and see which ones are best for your device(s).

Resolution #3: Quit Forgetting to Charge My Device

Are you guilty of never charging your device when you should? Everyone is! The problem is, if you continue to keep your devices below a 50% charge, you’re actually shortening their lifespans in the long run. Phones, tablets and handheld gaming systems perform best when they’re topped off with a charge as much as possible, so think about having a wireless charger to use at home and a cable to use in the car.

Resolution #4: Stop Dropping My Devices in the Car

Is too much multi-tasking in the car causing you to drop your phone? Quit trying to hold it while driving and get yourself a sturdy car mount. They’re designed to magnetically secure your devices to stay in place against bumpy roads and other driving conditions. And the best part is they come in many styles to fit your preference, including vent, dashboard and windshield versions.

Resolution #5: Keep My Devices in the Best Shape for Years

If you’re the type of person doesn’t like to upgrade every time a new model comes out, then you know how important it is to keep your devices protected from accidental cracks and scratches. We suggest opting into a phone protection that helps with repairs, but make sure you choose a plan that you understand what you’re getting! Most phone providers offer plans, but they’re not cheap and they typically require a costly deductible on top of what the repair cost will be. Choosing a plan like our amPlus basic or premium offers free, monthly screen protectors, damage repair reimbursement (up to $100 for the basic plan and up to $200 for the premium plan) and no deduction fee if you file a damage claim. It’s our goal to keep your devices as safe as they can for years to come!

Are you ready to kick off your New Year’s resolutions? We certainly are! We hope you try some of our tips above and make this the year you keep your phones, tablets and gaming systems in their best shape possible. Happy new year!
