Back in May, we shared rumors about what to expect for the upcoming iPhone 14 series. We discussed models, features, cost and a potential release date. With Apple’s highly anticipated announcement date coming soon, here’s everything we know about their release event, when you’ll be able to order an iPhone 14, and more.

When will Apple’s keynote event occur?

Apple has set a date for their launch: Wednesday September 7th at 10am PT (1pm ET).

What are the official iPhone 14 model names and sizes?

The iPhone 14 lineup will include “high end” and “lower end” models with two size options for each. This includes two 6.1 inch models (iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro) and two 6.7 inch models (iPhone 14 Max and iPhone 14 Pro Max). The iPhone 14 Max will replace the previous 5.4 inch mini model, due to poor sales and popularity. “Pro” refers to higher-end specs and “Max” referring to larger screen size.

What other iPhone 14 features will be discussed?

In our previous rumors post, we mentioned all iPhone 14 models will see an upgrade to the wide rear camera with the iPhone 14 Pro receiving the biggest improvements (increase 12-megapixel camera to 48-megapixel). That prediction seems to be the same, with the iPhone 14 Pro Max also upgrading to 48-megapixels alongside the iPhone 14 Pro.

We’ve also heard that Apple has been working with a new supplier for its front-facing camera to make a higher-end lens, with the iPhone 14 lineup ditching the notched display for hole-and-pill shaped design to accommodate for the front-facing camera and Face ID.

Some additional speculations we’re seeing are a flattened camera bump, a larger battery capacity for each model for better battery life, and the new series being equipped with Wi-Fi 6E.

When can I order an iPhone 14?

iPhone release dates are typically on Fridays a week and a half after Apple announces new devices, so we can expect the release date to be sometime the second week of September, possibly Friday the 16th. We'll know for sure once Apple officially unveils its new phone lineup.
